In close collaboration with companies in the construction industry, Volvo Trucks has developed electrified transport solutions that meet the industry's requirements in terms of performance, distance covered, freight handling and efficient vehicle use. Because of the absence of exhaust gases and engine noise, electric vehicles help to create a better working environment and quieter, cleaner cities.
"The fact that customers like Tom Wilhelmsen AS can use electric trucks to reduce the climate impact of heavy haulage operations is fundamental to our work on sustainable transport. Tom Wilhelmsen AS now owns three Volvo FE Electric tipper trucks.
The model is designed to meet demanding urban transport requirements, including light construction operations, waste management and goods deliveries. It has three axles and a gross vehicle weight of up to 27 tonnes.
"We have already begun using two of the trucks and we're very pleased with the low noise levels and, most importantly, the range. The drivers were a bit skeptical to start with, but now they are impressed with the trucks," says Tom Wilhelmsen.
