You can now access a public charging service for heavy-duty vehicles, designed to make charging more predictable, reliable and simple – and extend your daily range.
Volvo Open Charge is a service that gives you access to a continuously-growing network of reliable, quality-assured public charging locations suitable for your electric trucks. The service provides a map which directs you to the charging locations, which can then be accessed through either Volvo Connect online or the Truck Charging app. Real-time information about the charger’s availability is also displayed.
To find out if Volvo Open Charge is available where you are, you can either contact your dealer or browse the Volvo Connect support site, under "Offered charging services" in the FAQ.
You can download the Truck Charging app in available markets from the App Store or the Google Play Store - search to see if it's available where you are.
Multi-brand fleets can be charged at Volvo Open Charge locations – meaning that it’s really open for the trucking industry.
Using it couldn’t be simpler. Either tap the charging card – available from your Volvo Trucks dealer – or use the app to start charging. And as mentioned, real-time info about the status of the charging location is supplied, helping you manage your day better.
The sessions are paid for with one monthly invoice, which lists all charging sessions, regardless of who operates the charging location.
The map shows the locations of all of the charging locations. If you tap on any of the locations that are marked on the map, helpful information about it will be displayed.
In the app you’ll also be able to find your full charging history. For each charging session you carry out, the time, location, cost and energy consumed will be listed historically.
Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer to receive a Volvo charging card. They will also be able to give you a run-through of the service, prepare you for using it, introduce you to the app and set up your subscription.
Volvo Open Charge is a service which uses third party chargers. Volvo Trucks is not responsible for the management of chargers in the network. In case of issues with a specific charger, contact the charger operator.
