The seamless gear change with the I-Shift Dual Clutch is made possible by the gearbox’s two clutches and input shafts.
I-Shift Dual Clutch has two input shafts, where one is placed inside the other, and two clutches. With these dual input shafts, two gears can be engaged at the same time. The active gear is determined by which of the two clutches is engaged.
When driving, the first gear is engaged by one of the input shafts. At the same time, the other input shaft pre-selects the next gear.
During the actual gear change, the idling clutch is engaged at the same time as the previous clutch is disengaged – all without any loss of torque.
I-Shift Dual Clutch changes gear without any loss of power. Since torque is kept constant, the truck does not lose any speed when the actual gear change takes place.
